Abstract

Language is a means of communication. People communicate using their languages. Language is used to convey the message. English is the main international lingua franca which is used almost all over the world. In Anak Terang course, there are students who have difficulties in pronouncing English sounds. The aims of this study are to find out which consonants and vowels are incorrectly pronounced. This case study took eight students from Anak Terang Course as participants. Results show that errors are occurred when pronouncing these consonants: /d/, /b/, /z/, /v/, /ʒ/, /ʃ/, and /θ/. As for vowels, the errors are occurred when pronouncing /əʊ/, /aʊ/, /ʌ/ and /ʊ/.
