Abstract

Language is one of the most important and significant medium that is used among social life. It is mostly used by people in communication and do interaction in their daily social life. Nowadays, the forms of communication is not only found in direct contact but it can also be done through web-site or it is popularity known as social media and what of those forms is BBM. Youngsters normally dominate that kind of media to communicate among their groups. However, it can be traced that women and men have a little bit different way in selecting their language variation. Thus, based on that above descrition the problems formulated are (1) What are diferences of word choices used by men and women in their BlackBerry Messengerand (2) Whether or not the men and women’s language in their BBM in the choice of words. The research design applied in this study is descriptive annalitative research. It described the existing phenomena or the language variation between women and men in their BlackBerry Messenger. The result of this study shows that the women tend to use the ungrammatical language that is different from men. In conclusion, men use grammatical language.
