Abstract

In general, women are well known as naturally delicate, elegant and graceful creatures. By the changing of time, the point of view about women change. Nowadays, most of women seem like competing with men to reach the best position, especialiy in politic. Besides their ambitions, as human women also need to be loved. The phenomenon that women have ambition and need to be loved on this era also reflecfed in the main characters of Shakespeare's”King Lear''.This research used psychoanalysis and feminism approach which sees the main female characters’ psychology from the perspective of women. Then, firstly, can be concluded that the main character' ambitions reflected in Shakespeare's"King Lear" are divided into two; personal mission and personal success. In the personal mission, the main characters' ambitions are achieving the King's throne and defeating the other power to make them powerful. The personal success of the main characters' ambitions is being undefeatable.The motives of the main characters' ambitions refleted in Shakespeare's "King Tear" are power and love.
