Abstract

In this world, some of gender rejects the social order that applies in society. One of them is female Masculinity which when a female wants to be a dominant in the society. This phenomenon becomes many authors’ inspirations in making literary works which contains many genres. One of them is superhero movie. There are many superhero movies and one of them that is used for this study is Wonder Woman Movie which tells about Diana, an Amazon Princess who became a heroine. This study is aimed to find out female masculinity through personality and to find out female masculinity through gender role. For the first research question, this study uses Big Five Personality Traits which is stated by Costa and McCrae in Zaidi, et.al (2013), that is: Extraversion, Neuroticism, Agreeableness, Openness Experience, and Conscientiousness. Then for the second research question the writer uses Geert Hofstede’s theory(2001) about gender role which stated that masculinity side shows: Assertiveness, Being Tough, Individualistic, Ambitious, and Focused on Material and Success while femininity side shows: Nurturing, Tenderness, Being Modest, Collective, and Focused on Quality of Life. This study uses qualitative research methods. The data of this research are taken from the script which is from the other characters’ statement about Diana and from Diana’s utterance which is generally stated that Diana rejects the social order that applies in the society. The result of this thesis is Diana shows Five Personality Traits: Extraversion, Agreeableness, Neuroticism, Openness Experience, and Conscientiousness while for gender role, Diana only shows Four Masculinity side: Assertiveness, Being Tough, Individualistic, and Ambitious.
