Abstract
This research aims to analyze the main character's psyche elements and moral ambiguity, especially Kya, via the perspective of Delia Owens’s novel "Where the Crawdads Sing". It applies Sigmund Freud’s theory to understand better Kya’s psyche elements and transformations which lead to her moral ambiguity. This research applied descriptive qualitative and online library methods. The findings show that Kya’s moral ambiguity occurred when her psyche elements dominated, leading to inconsistency and ambiguity. It underlines the necessity of psychological issues for those dealing with trauma and past lives which are recorded in their psyche elements. In conclusion, moral ambiguity causes a characteristic imbalance between the protagonist and antagonist, and the main character’s actions are inconsistent.
