Abstract

This research paper has purpose to describe an analysis about conflict that caused by cross cultural misunderstanding in Crazy Rich Asians novel. Conflict is a normal part of life. We can see conflict between friends, family, relationship, and wherever we go. The conflict would be appears in the family because of the cross cultural misunderstanding. However, people only knew the conflict without wanted to know what was really made it, because of that this thesis wanted to help people who still did not understand to overcome the conflicts. The research paper is based on sociology of literature approach by Laurenson and Swingewood and conflict theory by Edward & Rothbard, (2000). This current study used one data source is Crazy Rich Asians Novel written by Kevin Kwan 2013. This research is a qualitative research which is content analysis. The result of this study shows the conflict that caused by cross cultural misunderstanding and how did they overcome the conflicts. There were three conflicts that was found 1. Language Barrier 2. Tradition and Inheritance, 3. Difference in Origins.
